For the second straight summer, Kirk Cousins will head to Redskins training camp playing under the one year franchise tag. This time the tag will pay the quarterback 23.9 million dollars for the season. It is close to a four million dollar increase from Cousins’ 2016 tag salary.
The Redskins placed the franchise tag on Cousins to keep him in burgundy and gold in the short term, though they have not shown any serious effort to make Cousins their long term quarterback.
The new tag salary puts Cousins in the top five of the NFL this season.
